While I'mnot sure about your specific vehicle. I can tell you, that the Compustar systems normally let you open the doors while running. But, will shut off when either the run timer expires, or the brake pedal is pressed, if the ignition hasn't been turned to run/activated.

Yes, it should run until you touch the brake pedal. And it will continue to run, IF, you turn the key to the ON position BEFORE you touch the brakes.
