It holds enough water to make 3 to 4 coffees at the 12 cup setting. I usually fill it after 3 cups and it's never empty so you could probably get 4 out of it.

Please try again later.No You do not have to fill each time if you start out with reservoir full you should be able to make several cups depending on the size of cup you are using the reservoir holds 42oz of water so use that as a gauge! 12x3=36oz of water. 16x2=32oz of water without refilling
