Yes it has a removable charcoal filter on a stem in the side you use for brewing in the carafe.

Yes, two of them. One for the water tank for the 12 pot carafe, and one in the tank for the K cups. Both filters are included and need to be soaked in water for about 15min before you install them and brew for the first time.
