It toasts both sides. Depending on the bread item you may wish to adjust (lessen) the minutes because thinner bread may overtoast. This toaster is designed to toast all sizes and thicknesses but operator error may occur until you get used to using it for your favorite breads.

It will toast on one single slot, but it does not toast one side of one slot.

It has a "bagel" setting which appears to toast the inside more than the outside, but both sides still heat
