Usually kids just make their sandwiches and place them right in for less than 30 sec. The press gets pretty hot very fast. So make sure you plug it as your about to use it. It will also help if you lightly spray or use butter on the bread your placing on it. So nothing sticks. The only thing to watch out for is melting cheese off the sides. But if you clean it while it is still warm, it helps. Hopefully this helps you. It’s really just a simple sandwich press more of a grilled cheese press like for college students or if you miss the sandwiches you’d eat when you were a kid.
