Oh yeah, it definitely can run games like those. Just maybe not all at the same time seeing has how the RAM is a bit low and will need upgrading. I'm a bit of a noob myself and only use mine for Guild Wars 2 and World of Warcraft. I haven't had any problems so far but I would get more RAM if I get interested in playing anything else. As for the controller question...I have no idea. Sorry! Hopefully someone else can answer that for you as I have not even tried hooking one up.
