Thanks for reaching out Jimmy. If you want to upgrade to a GTX 1080, you will need to upgrade your CPU to at least the Ryzen series or i5 Skylake series. However, if you are trying to upgrade your CPU, you will also need to find a motherboard that supports the socket you are upgrading to as well as upgrade your RAM as most likely they will upgrade to DDR4 RAM instead of DDR3.
