I just went through this last month. Data recovery took about a month, but mine was do-able. They copied everything over to a new hard drive and sent me the original one back. The recovery process involved having the hard drive sent to a Geek Squad center in Kentucky, I think. The Total Tech for 1 year was about $200, but I saved exactly with the data recovery. Now, I just get the perks of Total Tech until my subscription runs out.
