I worked with an extremely helpful and patient associate, who took the time to explain the process to solve the issue and took a thorough look at my broken hard drive. I am waiting to speak with the lab to see if it's possible to retrieve some of the files stored in it, other companies have already given up, not offering the same options he did.

The team was very helpful and polite and they got me checked in quickly.

They charged me to send off and then tell me it’s going to cost more to open and diagnose. They said they did not open it up actually they did open it up and possibly damage the retrieval of the information on it. Do not recommend sending anything off to get recovered from Best Buy

When requested/paid to transfer data from old PC (desktop) to new desktop, it turned out my old PC had two hard drives, and one hard drive wouldn't open or transfer... I discovered that, had to inform them (GeekSquad).. cost me an extra $500 after sending it out to their specialty division (took about 5 days)... ouch.. but they successfully did the transfer... and were helpful at the store showing me how the new MS OutLook 2016 works.

Being able to talk face-to-face with a person that really knows computers and is able to suggest solutions is wonderful. In addition, my computer had to be sent in to the tech center in order to be fixed. The in-store agent explained the procedures and costs that would be involved. Then, once my computer reached the tech center, I was contacted with explanations and a time frame within which the repairs would be finished. When the drive was completed, I was again contacted to let me know what outcome they had achieved, and that the computer was on the way to my home store. I am still amazed at the level of professionalism and the constant care and communication that I received! Personal, Professional and Competent . . . how could it get any better?

The in-store agent had to send out an external hard drive that had a fried interior connection. They told me it wss going to take about 2 weeks, which was fine.

The agents were very knowledgeable about what and where my laptop would be going and how long the process would take. They were very patient in explaining the process and also gave options of where else I could get help and cost of each process.

I dropped my Samsung laptop and damaged my hard drive. I called Samsung and they weren't able to get the problem resolved. I then called the Geek Squad that same day and was given a convenient appt time. When I arrived at the Iwilei location at my appt time, I didn't have to wait and the tech took my laptop to analyze the problem. He said the hard drive would have to be sent to the Geek Squad lab on the mainland. I agreed to the service and was very, very happy with the results. They were able to restore my data and recover my precious family pictures and important documents. The service was pricey but worth it and I ended up with a very useful external hard drive, which is where the Geek Squad loaded my recovered data.

Great recovery for a laptop II ran over that was under the Total program.

I took my portable hard drive to Geek Squad because it wasn't responding. They couldn't repair it onsite and told me it would cost $250 to send it off site to a clean room. I was hesitant but really needed them to see if they could retrieve my data. Once they checked it out at the clean room and found out that they couldn't get the data off the drive, they wanted to charge me $1350 to do a more intensive retrieval. I can't pay that kind of money so I asked them to send it back. I thought the $250 would be the charge so when I picked it up I was surprised when I received a credit of $150 because they weren't able to fix the drive. I expected that the $250 was for the repair whether they fixed it or not. $100 isn't a bad deal for them to do what they did to my drive.

In the fall of 2022 my laptop suffered a major HD issue. I brought it into the Geek Squad in hopes that my HD could be recovered. They had to send it out for a Level 3 recovery attempt. In the end, most of my HD contents were recovered but I still lost some data. The money spent in this process was worth it to me in the end. Geek Squad members were very professional in their correspondence with me and I was very happy with the service.

Well, folks - get a portable drive and back up your stuff ASAP because it's generally time-consuming, expensive, and stressful to have to send in a hard drive for data recovery. Then they don't want to put anything on your portable drive except stuff under your standard user locations so if you (or your special programs) have saved stuff in other locations, kiss it good bye or get some other service that is more customized. I got great quality of the data that was recovered! I think that if you paid for your programs and stuff they should not refuse to recover it, but at least they warned me of this, and they meant it. It was sent across the country with good tracking and communications so I always knew where it was and in what stage, and had choices communicated to me. I was on a short time frame and very grateful for getting my work back promptly!

My own computer stopped recognizing one of my external hard drives so I made an appointment at my nearest Best Buy. The agents in the the store were professional, explained things clearly, and treated me with the utmost respect. The hard drive needed to be sent to their data recovery experts. Communication via email has been clear. They were able to recover almost everything on the drive. They have put the recovered files on the new external hard drive I purchased and sent with the old drive. It will be returned to the store and I will be notified when it is ready for pick up.

Local agents were unable to retrieve the contents of my hard drive. It was sent to Kentucky and they have retrieved some of my stuff. I will not know until it is installed on my new hard drive how successful the process was.

Old lap top hard drive burnt out, needed family photos saved, GEEK squad did all they could, many were saved thanks to their hard work. Great communication from Tech support.

My older laptop gave up. It wasn't for lack of trying by the Geek Squad. For the most part they really told the straight story... I think I would have been able to avoid some of the hassle if they had been more honest about the potential for additional, critical problems that rendered my laptop dead before I could run one last backup. Fortunately Tier 2 agents were able to rescue a good amount of data which gives me the hope that I didn't lose anything (or much) of what I didn't backed up before it died. The chose of the 'next step' tech support was practically the cost of a new laptop. YIKES! I would have been happier spending the money somewhere else in the store. The guys at our usual Best Buy store were very helpful for the most part. They focused on my issues when it was my turn. They did a great job explaining the various parts of the problems and the solutions. I have been to other Best Buy stores and that personality isn't always there.

Geek squad tried to recover my data on my external hard drive (passport). We think the device slipped a pin. They could not figure out how to get it back, so they refunded my money. The staff was friendly, professional, and as helpful as they could be. Referred me to the experts that the device encouraged to use to recover data. While I dropped $800 to get it back, I recovered a ton of my data for the life of three to four separate computers. I continue to make my computer and hardware purchases at Bestbuy because the staff are professional, courteous, and knowledge. Our team in Las Cruces are top notch.

Service recovered a high percentage of the data on my drive. It took a little longer than I hoped but they beat their promise data so I am satisfied with the result and service. If you have important data you need to recover, do it.

My DVR box to my cameras was deleted, and it was encrypted. They recovered all the video footage I needed for court very helpful workers a pleasure to do business with.

The Geek Squad did an amazing job recovering very important information from our laptop when it crashed. This was crucial information needed for our business. Can’t thank you enough!!!
