I was a little worried about sending off my hard drive to be worked on or replaced because of all the data that I might lose but it turns out that the Best Buy recovery team called me and made it seamless and with my protection and already purchased hard drive to go with it they were able to recover the data and it didn’t cost me a dime This program is great.

Adrian the GEEK Squad rep was very helpful and thorough. He indicated that my hard drive had to be sent out for recovery. I paid $300 on site and then another $300 when the technicians sent the hard drive back. I thought that there was too much duplicated costs. Nevertheless, I picked up my hard drive and then had to go back to place in back into computer. Why wasn't I told that so that I would have to make duplicate trips.

First, I wish I could have handled the paperwork and payment to send the hard drive off site by phone. I was out of town, and lost a week of time because I could not send the data on without being at the store in person. They claimed I needed to answer many questions about data that could only be done in person. I really didn't! Second, when my new hard drive was installed, the order of operations was screwed up requiring me to come back to the store 3 different times to figure it out. Third, after retrieving my broken hard drive from the store, I got several happy calls saying my hard drive was at the store and my data was recovered. This was not the case. Yes, there was an additional hard drive at the store with my name on it, but it wasn't mine. I had one at home with my name on it too. Very strange and upsetting. Why did I have two hard drives? Was my data actually somewhere? It left me feeling bad about the whole process.

In store Geek Squad service was excellent. They had a tough call to help with. External Hard drive crashed and they had the unenviable job of trying to recover whst they could. They got me back, 85% to 90% of the data lost. They did a great job in a difficult situation. Saved my bacon.

Geek Squad agents were able to recover much of the data from Dell computer hard drive after it had a total failure. The process took a couple of weeks and I am still waiting for the files to be returned to the local store for me to claim.

A recent summer thunderstorm killed my hard drive. I tried HP's over-the-phone tech support and was disappointed about their unwillingness to even try to help. A friend recommended I try Geek Squad in store. I took my hard drive into my local Best Buy, and they were able to identify files on my hard drive. When they realized they wouldn't be able to recover them, they clearly explained my options and the fees associated with each option. We decided to let the specialty lab make an attempt to recover the files and were successful.

I felt that they were thorough checking my data in store. They communicated with me well and then had to send it out to their "city" location (actually in the middle of nowhere) to get more done. I was not impressed by that, but the in store portion was great and included in my total tech package!

There was a bit of confusion about what I need to pay and so this slowed down the entire process. Once I was contacted I had to go back to the store and pay the difference they should have charged me to begin with. Then they had to contact the hard drive recovery department and let them know I paid. Then they would start the recovery process. It's been about 9 weeks that I have been without my information. I am hoping that once I receive my hard drive recovery I can be up and running again. On another note- everyone has been friendly and professional. Which helps under these stressful circumstances.

Lightening killed my iMac recently.Contacted local Geek Squad to troubleshoot and told computer would need to go to data recovery in Kentucky first and then evaluation for hardware defects. Received timely calls to update me with status of recovery and repair as well as refund for overcharging for data recovery. I was without computer for a few days longer than expected but all data was recovered and reinstalled without a hitch. Very pleased overall and would recommend Geek Squad in the future!

They answered all my questions, but in the end they couldn't help me, and had to send my computer offsite to have the work done. The only problem I had is that they failed to return my laptop to me after removing my damaged hard drive. To this day they still claim to NOT HAVE IT IN THEIR POSSESSION!

I had to have my hard drive shipped out for a level 2 advanced repair. Before my total home protection expires. When the hard drive repair was completed the call center was trying to charge me full price for the repair due to my total home protection had expired when the repair was done. I had paid for it and was not happy about it. So I had called the Geneva IL store and the supervisor Emily had assisted me to get the total home protection price for the repair due to I had was active at the time I had turned in the hard drive. I was so satisfied I had even returned to the store and opened up a credit account and purchased a new laptop! Thank you Geneva sotre and thank you Emily for the help to get my issue resolved!

In all fairness you've got to understand that there are no guarantees this process will work. the value of lost data on a drive in this case was uncalculatable. they did the work and provided a drive as part of the service. thanks geek-squad!

Excellent recovery of data in a timely manner for a reasonable price, Unfortunately it took several calls to customer service asking about the status before finding out it had been completed several days earlier (after being disconnected or hung up on several times).

Happy data was recovered but it was expensive to do so.

Anytime I have to use the Geeks, which is not very often, they have been outstanding. That said, this service might be a little expensive. I have sent a old hard drive to Kentucky for potential recovery, but have not heard a thing? If they are working on it, they sure don't provide any feedback? If I could do it all over again, I probably would not purchase this service as it is not used as often as I would expect and it is somewhat over priced. Thanks.

My hard drive started to get sluggish, and then it prompted me to format it, which we all know would delete everything on it. Anyway, I knew my 6 year collection of photos were still on the hard drive; however, I was not able to recover the files on my own. Geek Squad was like a team of wizards who were able to recover practically all of my photos with little to none corruption. They were able to even keep everything into folders, like the way I kept everything.

The Geek Squad tried their best, but was not able to match what the guy at Milwaukee Mac Repair did. I’d give him a 9/10 for full data recovery, in the hopes that Geek Squad would be able to do full data recovery plus restore to an acceptable Time Machine-readable format, I’d give them a 6/10.

Geek Squad tried to recover data from dead storage device, with no luck. I appreciate their efforts.

I accidentally lost all my pics and personal files by reformatting my hard drive. Geek squad was able to restore quite a bit of my stuff. Unfortunately they weren't able to restore everything but I'm grateful for all they restored for me. Thank you!!!

Excellent customer service and support. Continually coordinated with me to ensure no cost surprises. Work was completed in a timely manner. Was able to recovery over 98% of a damaged hard drive!!!
