It seems like the commercials have varying sound (some surround and some stereo only). We were able to minimize/eliminate the issue by adjusting the center channel down with soundbar remote. Sometimes the bass default is too loud (e.g. really notice on ABC news etc) as well. Note that when you click bass + or - (same for center) you will note that there will be 5 out of 10 white lights that temporarily show on soundbar front by default. Try hitting - (minus) about 3 times to get 3 lights or so for each. Then then the volume up a little and adjust bass/center slightly for your situation (up or down). These levels will hold until soundbar is totally powered off. You may want to use a Harmony remote etc as then you can set a level upon power up.
