Yes, you can physically use a USB 3.0 cable because USB 3.0 is backward compatible with USB 2.0. However, the drive itself is USB 2.0 speed, so using a USB 3.0 cable will not increase performance and it will still operate at USB 2.0 speeds (up to 480 Mbps).
