Although I have not tried. The HDMI technical specs for the monitor do not indicate you can achieve 280 Hz on HDMI. It will however work on the Display port. HDMI version 1.4 (as shown by specs) max refresh rate is 144 Hz. All of the refresh rates need a good performance cable to ensure success.

The HDMI port in this G2524H monitor supports up to 1920 x 1080 resolution at 240 Hz.
