FWIW, I got on chat with Dell and was told it was a SATA interface, but I'd feel better if I saw it in writing on their web site. They (BB, Dell, etc.) just don't make it easy to find the technical details the way they used to. There's a review from July 2016 of this line with 5th gen processors that says the SSD is M.2 (http://www.digitaltrends.com/laptop-reviews/dell-inspiron-13-7000-2-in-1-2016-review/). If that were true I suppose Dell would be bragging about it.
