It all depends on what you connect it to. You may want to purchase a good audio receiver which will amplify the signal. It is best if the receiver has a phono input.

If you are hooking it up to a receiver that doesn't have a dedicated Phono input you will need to enable the amp. There is a page in the manual that will instruct you how to do so. A more powerful receiver and sensitive speakers will help with the overall loudness. But even still, I do have to listen to my records at 70 or so on my Onkyo receiver vs 50 for my other sources.
