• You can plug it into your Auxiliary input. There is a switch under the platter that allows you to use a receiver/amp with out the Phono input.

• No, it has a built in preamp, though you may get better sound quality using a stand alone unit or one built into a quality receiver.

• It has an internal pre-amp / equalizer that you can turn on if plugging into a generic AV connection on the receiver, or it allows you to turn the internal equalizer off if your receiver has a specific Phono AV input.

• It has switchable preamp built in. My receiver has a preamp, so I just moved the switch on the table to "off".
