It is possible you may have a dead or defective battery. However in nearly 85% of the time it is a bad charging port. The USB Micro slot is very easy to damage if it inserted at an incorrect angle, or forcing a USB C power Charger in to the Micro port. This completely damages the charge port. One thing that happens when a charger is forced at a bad angle is. The 'Tounge' gets bent downward if you look in the port amd it seems to be depressed all the way down. That means it is bent. And needs straightened out. I suggestion i reccomend is taking a piece of small hard plastic, like a plastic tooth pic or a finely tipped plastic butter knife. Or one could buy a small screen repait kit for cheap. (shown below) All you need to do if this looks bent; is get underneath the part the 'Tounge' with your plastic tool, and pry it up gently until its straight. !!!!!! Now before you go sticking your fork in power slots. (NEVER DO THIS!) check 5 things. 1. Does your outlet work? -fix- try another outlet 2. Does Your charging Brick Work? =fix= Test on another device. 3. Does your charging cable work? =fix= Test multiple cords on another device to confirm. 4. Is Your charging Brick the correct Amp? These devices prefer a 5v 2Amp charger. 5v 1Amp works but it will charge much slower. (labeled on every charging brick) 5. Is my charging cable a USB Micro. (trapizoid shaped) NOT OVAL. those are USB C and only compatible on newer devices. Good luck on your trials! When you fix it. You can now tell your friends your a Mobile Device Tech, and Champaign will rain from the skys and Babies will laugh with joy! You my friend saved 100 bucks and gained an overhwhelming feeling of accomplishment, and TechnSavagery! PS You are not a Real Tech, so dont Pop the device open and play with the guts. In case it is a defrctive battery. As older batteries can swell amd bloat. If your device looks bloated. Than it is a bloated battery and you need to properly dispose of the device at a tech shop or your local electronics and. Battery dump. DO NOT JUST THROW AWAY. bloated batteries have a potential to EXPLODE. Respect the Tech
