• By itself it can be stood upright. But it will fall over with the lightest touch. You can use an adapter to put a small tripod which is what I use. If you're sure nothing will knock it over, than you can just stand it up by itself.

• The base of the Osmo Pocket can stand on its own as long as it sits on a flat level surface. DJI also sells tripods and accessories for the unit if you are looking for something more stable.

• It will stand on its own, however, it's not real stable if whatever its standing on gets bumped. The larger footprint of the wifi base provides better stability.
