OK, my only thought on this is you see from the pictures that it looks flat.. Yes, there is a gap between the wall and the TV. It is a fully adjustable mount, wherein, it can tilt up/down, pull out turn left or right. I think you had meant to get a flush wall mount. I really like this one because it does have the clearance to get behind the TV to plug in the cables and access the back, and to move it around a little in case you have a larger room where you have more people watching from different angles. Hope this helps, it really is a nice mount!
