• You would have to fold your 8 1/2 paper in half. Would say 4in. Yes it shreds credit cards but it seems the credit card will mess it up faster. It gets stuck

• The opening in this shredder will fit regular size sheets of paper folded into thirds. Yes it will shred credit cards.

• I haven't tried shredding a credit card yet. You can feed 3 sheets folded lengthwise with no problems. Shredded paper size is tiny.

• I have the 11 sheets. I love the crosscut. It cuts through credit cards and the number of sheets it says it will shred

• Shreds anything 4 inches wide, so you have to fold the 8.5X11 in half (horizontally) shreds credit cards greatly
