• If your monitor does not have a display port (it's not a USB adapter) but it has an HDMI port, you can use this converter plug.

• Assuming you have a full size display port on your Mac mini you can connect this to an HDMI cable and to your monitor or a TV that has an HDMI input. Make sure you don't have a mini display port. I almost ordered one by mistake.
