This was a tricky question for me also. After months of reading specs, trying to understand the difference, and why no one simply specifies this in their product description, here is what you need to know - if you are trying to send video to a tv or monitor that supports 1920x1080 resolution, this adapter is for you. If you are trying to send video to a 4K or below tv or monitor, choose an adapter that says 4K in the product description.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It's funny that the vendor/manufacturer comments on their own post saying its a 'passive' adapter, but no where on the page for buying the product does it even remotely hint that it is a passive adapter. LOL @ Dynex.
