• It only works on my S5 for about 20 seconds and then shuts off. Not sure why.

• It works with any phone with the right port... I have an S4, and it works (but only gives half a charge at best). I presume your S5 has the same port, so it should work for you. That said, I'd recommend just buying a second battery if you just started your contract; a second battery will give you a full charge! And, should cost about the same online.
