to charge the portable charger you use the provided cord with the small end plugged into the charger and the other (usb) end into either a desk top or laptop for charging it. to charge your device from the portable charger you use the usb end in the portable charger and the other (small) end in your phone.

The output comes from the standard USB port on top. The miniUSB port is used to charge the unit.

The USB port. You use the micro usb port to charge the battery, and it outputs to the USB port.
