It's 1500W same as any other heater. It is not more efficient when it comes to energy use. The economics come into play when you think about the ability to set a temperature. The heater will turn on and heat up the room to that exact temp (I verified this with an external thermometer) and shut off when that temp is reached to prevent overheating a space and wasting money.

Fan mode operates at 30 watts and the unit uses 1w when on stand by mode. The addition of the sleep time allows you to control when the unit is operating to provide more flexibility around any economic impact that may occur.
