Hi there, this is Krystal with Dyson. Thank you for your interest in the Dyson AM09. It is safe to use overnight while sleeping. It will, however, shut off completely after 9 hours of continuous use while being used as a heater. Best Wishes, Krystal Dyson Customer Service
