We use ours in front of the window and it pulls in the cool air.

With the window open, it would take longer to purify the room air, since you'd constantly have air from the outdoors coming in through the window. With regard to cooling the air, our air multiplier line, unlike an AC unit that is designed to chill the air, consists of blade-less fans. The air temperature does not change, it is the air flow which cools the user. Each of the machines have the option of increasing the speed of the air expelled from the machine, which is adjusted with the remote control. We hope this information helps!
