Hi Cheri, this is Kelly with Dyson. We know that battery run time is a very important aspect of performance for our owners, so we developed a trigger that helps maximize the amount of time you can clean on one charge. We chose a light-touch trigger over an on/off switch to ensure that battery life is never wasted by letting the machine run when it's not in active use. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I as well have arthritis and unfortunately, you have to squeeze the trigger while operating the vacuum.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You do have to hold down the trigger the entire time you’re vacuuming. If you vacuum a lot it may become uncomfortable, but it’s easy to use in either hand if you get tired.
