Hi there Bev, this is Tia from Dyson. The V11 Animal cord-free comes with a wall dock and a charger. The dock itself doesn't provide power to the battery, but can be used in conjunction, with the charger. If you choose to mount the wall dock, the charger cable will thread behind the dock, with one end plugging into your regular electrical outlet, and the charging pin end snapping into the dock. When the machine is placed in the dock, it makes contact with the pin and charges directly on the wall. Using the dock is optional, you can just plug the charger right into the machine itself when it needs to be charged. Thanks for your support of Dyson technology!
