The cord is long. The usual outlets, close to the floor, are just fine.

The dock itself doesn't provide power to the battery, but can be used in conjunction, with the charger. If you choose to mount the wall dock, the charger cable will thread behind the dock, with one end plugging into your regular electrical outlet, and the charging pin end snapping into the dock. When the machine is placed in the dock, it makes contact with the pin and charges. Using the dock is optional, you can just plug the charger right into the machine itself when it needs to be charged. This model features three suction modes, and max suction of 185 air watts. The Ball Animal has 270 air watts, but for homes that have thicker or more plush floor coverings, the cord-free is the better option. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support
