Mounting it to the wall is completely optional. I currently don’t have it mounted because I’m in the same situation. It has a separate portable charger similar to what you would charge your phone or tablet with.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You don't need to use the wall mount. The charger is a cord charger that plugs into the vac. If you use the wall mount, the cord charger connects to the wall mount.

One end plugs in to your electrical outlet, and the other end plugs in to the machine. Use of the wall dock is optional. When using the dock, the charger cord will thread behind the dock on the wall, with the end that plugs into the machine attaching to the dock so that when stored on the dock, your machine receives a charge.
