Should cordless vac constantly be plugged into wall charger or be left to fully run down before next charge? null

I have a Dyson V7. Is it OK that I leave the port plugged in at all times and the vacuum cleaner will shut off and the battery will be OK if it’s plugged in at all times??

Hi Matt. The Dyson V6 is designed so that you can store the unit on the charger. Storing the Dyson on the charger will not harm the battery and it is not necessary to use the unit until the battery is depleted. I keep mine plugged in at all times. I've done this with 2 Dyson for 3 years. Never changes charge.

If it is a lithium ion battery then yes it can stay plugged in all the time. But if it is a nickel metal hydride then it should be run down, charged fully and then unplugged.

Lithium batteries do not get a memory so they can be charged no matter what the state of charge is. Nickel batteries on the other hand can develop a memory; meaning if you always charge it when it is only partially discharged after a while it will only charge to the partially discharged state.

I'm sure it will work either way but we keep in plugged in constantly to wall charger with no problems. Something special about the battery charger that prevents it from overcharging. Once full battery charging stops!

My dyson battery only last 10 minutes. Is that the normal battery life between charges?

With all electronics it is best not to continually leave it at charge. It's always good on the go and will hold a good residual charge. If you have a specific day or time of the week you vaccum then plug it in the that morning or night before. It only takes three hours for a full charge. And it lasts around 1.45 hours with strong vaccum before it peters out to a whimpy suction.

It is best to allow it to run down before recharging.
The battery doesn't form a memory but complete
exercising helps to extend life.
