Yes the charger needs to be plugged in when not using.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.If you have charged your vacuum then no it should NOT loose power when not in use during normal use...... but if left for 6 months ect then you may loose some power.

The only time the machine's battery is used is when the trigger is held when in use. You should be getting 20 minutes of constant suction in standard mode and 6 minutes on MAX power for tougher jobs.
