No, comes with a battery preinstalled. When the battery is degraded after a year or two, you can buy a replacement. It's easy to replace, just a couple of screws and the bottom battery piece comes out.

the attachments that come with the V8 will do a variety of cleaning task. The connectors are different so using your V6 attachments will not work with the V8. Maybe they will come out with an adaptor as I have well over a hundred dollars in attachments for the V6.
