I don't know if you are SUPPOSED to, but it seems to work fine on tile for me.

You can use the direct-drive floor tool that came with your Dyson V8 Animal on tiled or other bare flooring surfaces. If you had a surface such as hardwood, which would be more susceptible to scratching, then we'd recommend using the soft roller head that comes with the Absolute, or can be purchased separately.
