• no. u must stop the brushes by jamming em it will stop turning them until u let go of button

• You can take off the brush and still have the rod to use other the attachments that come with the vacuum at the end instead of the brush . Very versatile

• Hi Mike, this is Kelly with Dyson. You cannot shut of the brush bar on the Dyson V8 Animal. The only machines that we carry where you can shut off the brush bar are our full size upright models. If you have delicate bare floors where you're concerned over using a spinning brush bar, there is a soft roller head which will fit on your V8 Animal available for purchase.
