You can setup two ways.. one is to tap into the brake lights and when you the lights go on for reverse the camera will come on.. This is what i did or you can run a hot lead to the wire instead and it can be on all the time...

Then it will come on automatically, as long as you have the screen powered with the supplied plug for a cigarette type (or USB) receiver.
