Hi ed, Thanks for reaching out. The eero 6 AX1800 Dual-Band Mesh WI-FI 6 system doesn’t replace your modem, it replaces your router. The first eero plugs into your existing cable or DSL modem. If you have a combination modem/router, you’ll be using that as a modem and disabling the routing function by putting it in bridge mode. I hope this information helps, have a great day!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, a modem or ONT is needed. An eero is not a modem. The eero requires one eero hardwired to an internet source via an ethernet cable. This will be the primary/gateway eero and it will create a wifi network. The other eero will connect to the gateway eero (wired or wirelessly) and will broadcast the same wifi network.
