It won't replace a modem. You will still need the modem to connect to your ISP's network. If the Xfinity Wifi is provided by the modem, you may be able to turn off the wifi in the device's settings. I left my Spectrum wifi turned on because some devices in the house are already connected to it.

They are not replacing the modem. You can buy a decent modem on your own and return the Xfinity rented one. Usually pays back in less than a year
