What is the inside made of? I had heard that it was porcelain which I find hard to believe. It seems like plastic. If so, isn't it bad to heat things up in plastic? null

It feels like what a coffee mug is made of so possibly ceramic. The heating element seems to be below it and does a good job of heating and keeping warm.

I don’t know for sure but as a daily user of the mug, I’d say it’s made out of a high quality, highly durable plastic which coats a hard material which could very likely be porcelain because despite it’s temperature control features, it feels and the outside heats up very much like a porcelain mug. Maybe slightly cooler to the touch on the outside. It’s a well made product. I have the Gen. 2 model.
