Yes it charges 9V, there is a battery peel indicator.

If the battery is dead the first cell will blink until it gets more charge then the first cell will be a solid color then the second cell will blink. when that cell is solid it means the battery is 50% charged. When all 4 are solid the battery is charged.. YES it will charge a 9Volt battery. The battery does NOT have to be the same brand as the energizer charger it is universal as long as the batteries are rechargeable. It took the 9Volt about 2hrs to charge which has lasted so far more than 2 months since charging it once for my garage code pad...Its still working battery not close to being dead.

Please try again later.yes it does, they way you can tell when it is finish is when the indicator link to the panel used to charge battery will be fully lighted instead of blinking. It does have an option that allows you to tell if the battery is bad. It is right next to the indicator that is charging and displays as a 'X'.
