I haven't yet connected anything to the type-C port, but I'll tell you that there's an apparent bug in Windows -- do a search yourself -- that can cause some USB 3.x devices to be limited to USB 2.x speeds. In my own experience, I have a flash-based thumb drive (type A connector) that has been able to transfer data at 200MBps or better. Although, normally, Windows limits the transfer rate to about 31MBps. I know the drive is capable of 3.x speeds because, as stated, sometimes Windows will transfer files at the much higher rate and the drive always performs fast when connected to my Mac. Basically, the hardware seems fine, but Microsoft's quality control is at the same crappy level as always.
