Yes, straight out of the box. We had a Geek Squad appt to transfer from previous laptop and told them about the problem when we dropped it off. The tech pulled an older model charger and cord and swapped them. This one has not gotten abnormally warm. The replacement is one piece cord and charger whereas the original had two cords. I'm not sure if that was the issue. The replacement charger itself is a bit bigger, perhaps it's a tad more robust.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We're sorry to hear about this!! Your laptop should not be running so hot as to cause discomfort or damage! We recommend making sure that you are not resting the laptop directly on your lap, as clothing/skin contact could be blocking the air vents and preventing the device from regulating its temperature properly. Be sure to be in an area where you laptop is also not sitting in direct sunlight, as this can have an impact, too. If you are keeping the laptop on an even surface that allows proper ventilation, and it's still running too hot for comfort, then we strongly encourage you reach out to our Tech Support team for more assistance!! http://support.hp.com/us-en
