• Yes, you can. The printer will use the photo ink to print black. My advice is to replace the black ink cartridge as soon as possible since the photo ink is more expensive than the black ink.

• from what I was told you always have to buy the new black cartridge. the photo ink will not pull and make it black..that is only for photos. the combo pack is all wrong, it should be the opposite of what is sold.
