I would use HDMI. Most newer AVRs can tap the audio off the HDMI. If you can't do that, then you can get an audio extractor. In my setup, I run the hdmi from roku to sound bar and then to the projector.

I bought a Yamaha sound bar that has an input from your HDMI device (cable box, DVD player, etc) and an output HDMI port to connect your tv to. So signal goes through sound bar and then is passed onto your tv. They also make a HDMI extractor that functions the same way as an external box so you can hook it up that way as well.
