“Am i able to run an HDMI out of this projector and into a splitter. Then run a HDMI out to my Xbox and audio out via an optical cord to my ancient surround sound from the splitter? I have to have 5.1 surround sound and the 3.5mm jack won't allow for that.”

Hi OasisSupernova, The Home Cinema 880 has an HDMI port for input not output. You can use a commercially available HDMI audio extractor to separate the sound from the input signal and send the audio to your surround sound system and the video to the projector. Regards, Mark - The Epson Team.
