• No the cord will not improve overall detector performance, it's just helpful for battery life. Carrying extra batteries is more convenient.

• no but a power cord would not improve the function, if the batteries are good it will work the same

• You will save on batteries, but I don't think that sensitivity will be significantly increased. The unit is designed to run off of batteries, and the operating internal voltage will be the same in either case.
