If you hardwire the eufy Smart Wi-Fi C31 2K wired doorbell to replace your original doorbell, it can control and use your existing chime and wires directly. Hence, the sound will originate from your original doorbell soundbox, provided your existing chime is compatible. Alternatively: If you prefer a second chime elsewhere or do not have a compatible wired chime, you can use an add-on chime that connects to HomeBase (if applicable). Alexa Echo devices can also serve as chimes if linked to the doorbell. So, you don't necessarily need to buy a base or plug in an additional unit unless you want expanded functionality or your existing system isn't compatible.
