Hence, the sound will originate from your original doorbell soundbox, provided your existing chime is compatible. Alternatively: If you prefer a second chime elsewhere or do not have a compatible wired chime, you can use an add-on chime that connects to HomeBase (if applicable). Alexa Echo devices can also serve as chimes if linked to the doorbell. So, you don't necessarily need to buy a base or plug in an additional unit unless you want expanded functionality or your existing system isn't compatible.
