The Fitbit will track without connecting to a device and I used mine like that for the first year,. During that time, I couldn’t set the correct time on the Fitbit. Then I got the app and connected it to my IPad. The app provided me with graphs showing daily, weekly, and monthly reports. The amount of information with the app is very impressive. You can keep track of caloric intake and out put. The Fitbit will do much more than give you real time data, if it is connected to some device. With the app, the Fitbit also serves as a wrist watch with accurate time that changes with day.ight savings.
